http://www.ranger85.comWhat a weekend. We started out fishing Saturday at San Miguel Island with our regular Charter group put together by Charter Master Louis Lloyd. The weather was a bit dicey at first, but battling high winds, the Ranger 85 prevailed. Forging forth, after searching for squid at Santa Rosa, we found ourselves back in familiar territory at San Miguel Island. The wind finally came down, as forecast, and we rolled up our sleeves and went to work. With 39 anglers onboard, we managed a great catch of over 360 mixed fish for the day, most of which came on in the last 3 hours of fishing. Back at the dock, we prepared for yet another 1.5 Day Trip. After all were onboard we went over a game plan for our trip. The weather turned out to be phenomenal and we started at Santa Rosa Island with a few drifts for Halibut and Seabass. The game fish continued to elude us, so without any further decisions to be made, we ventured forth once again to San Miguel Island. Under calm seas and an ever decreasing swell, we worked hard at putting together a quality catch of rockfish and lingcod. We fished long and hard all day both shallow and deep. I must say, fishing some of the spots we had the opportunity to on this trip were both scenic and productive. Just incredible. At sunset all were tired and we headed to the anchorage for a relaxing evening and dinner, knowing that 0600 would come soon enough and that meant back at it again. True to our plan, we started the day off with a few halibut drifts, producing 1 brute @ 31 lbs. for Wei Seto of Torrance. We finished off our morning at 900 and arrived back at the dock at 1230. We ended up with 651 mixed fish for the 30 anglers onboard, all of exceptional quality. That rounded the weekend off with the Ranger 85 producing a total of 1009 total fish for our anglers. I must also mention it was great seeing good customers and friends this weekend...Louis thanks again for Saturday...the guys did great despite challenging conditions at times...Sunday..well where do I start? Mike and Paulette. Always a pleasure, Paulette your cookies didn't stand a chance...ha...Paul Q, Wei S, Paul B, Dave G, Jerry and John, Mark R and all else I may have left out...it really was great to spend the weekend fishing one of my favorite destinations with all of you... Don't miss out; with great weather forecast in the coming days, we look for more game fish to start making the counts. We have availability departing this Friday evening May 6 @ 10pm on yet another ALL INCLUSIVE RANGER 85 1.5 DAY TRIP. You can book online @ RANGER85.com or contact our office @ 805 382 1612.
