Report Date:

Planning to stay close to home during the upcoming holiday weekend looks like a good bet, according to Fil Torres at Oroville Outdoors. "Both the bass and coho fishing are on fire at Lake Oroville", reported Torres. "The bass are ranging up to three pounds, and are biting on almost any kind of plastics from the bank out to 20 feet of water. It is very easy to release 30 or 40 bass a day; just about every bush has fish on it. "The coho salmon are averaging around two pounds, and are fairly shallow in the top 30 feet. They are relating to points, and the trick is to keep moving and casting until you locate a school. Best lures are hardbaits and shiny spoons. Trollers are using green, glow, or pink hoochys."

Torres cautioned, "It is important to pay attention when navigating due to floating debris. Especially watch out for buoys that may indicate a sub-surface hazard. All launch ramps are in full operation."
