Miles Burghoff wins the Boat U.S. Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship

Miles Burghoff who is a Paradise High School alum grew up learning how to bass fish in Lake Oroville, and it has served him well, even though he left the area to attend college. Burghoff and his team partner from the University of Central Florida won the Boat U.S. Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship last week at Lake Lewisville, TX, beating out 143 teams from across the U.S. and Canada.

The Boat U.S. National Collegiate Bass Championship is the largest collegiate event in the world for the number of participants competing in a single event. The event will be televised on Versus in late July.

Nearly three years ago, about 12,000 yearling steelhead were planted experimentally in the Thermalito Afterbay as part of a co-operative program between the Department of Fish and Game and Department of Water Resources.
