Salmon and Brown Trout are biting at Lake Almanor

Steve Carson

Report Date:

Things are looking good at Lake Almanor, reported Doug Neal at Almanor Fishing Adventures. "The trolling and bait bites are picking up", noted Neal. "Salmon have moved into Big Springs, and anchovy tails are the preferred baits for targeting these kings. When it's good, expect kings in the 16 to 17 inch range.

"Crickets and meal worms have been hooking browns from Goose Island to the Fox Farm. Trollers go from Hamilton Branch to big Springs, and from Rec. 1 to the A-frame for a variety of fish in all sizes, including salmon, browns, and rainbows. Best trolling lures have been Sep's Dodgers with a threaded crawler 18 inches back."
