Catfish still the best bet here, and limit or near limit action can be had in back of almost any cove in the lake. Mackerel, nightcrawlers, and packaged dough baits are all working well.

The bass bite has improved since last week, and both largemouth and smallmouth bass are active. Both largies and smallies are taking a variety of baits, with cranks, blades, split shot and drop shot fished to 15 to 20 feet have been the top choices.

Crappie fishing has also improved, and fishing mini jigs in the narrows, Cachuma Bay and in Johnsons Bay has been producing the best catches.

Trout fishing has been slow, but persistent anglers have been picking up a few quality rainbows. Drifting near the dam, or lead core any where from 5 to 8 colors are accounting for most of the 'bows.

Bluegill are still plentiful around any stand of tules, with mealworms the best bait for the panfish. A handful of bow fished carp came in, and with some work its possible to have a nice outing.
