Record Striped Bass

Steve Carson

Report Date:

A potential new world record striped bass was caught in Connecticut this week. If accepted by the International Game Fish Association's rigorous certification process, the 81.8 pound beast would shatter the existing record of 76 pounds, 8 ounces, caught back in 1982. The official California state record for striped bass is a 67-pounder caught at San Luis Reservoir's O'Neill Forebay in 1992, and an "unofficial" 71-pounder was caught in 2010. It's nice to know that even in this day and age, that they can still get that big.
