Eric Weldele brought Qualifier 105 home to Pt. Loma Sportfishing August 20 after a seven-day trip with 25 anglers.

"We found good water on the way home," he said. "I told the crew to throw bait on the small yellowfin at 140 to 160 miles, and they bit good. Fishing for yellowtail was also outstanding at the 13. They were so thick you could see 'em under the boat."

Jonas Hodges of Studio City won first place. He caught a 106.6-pound tuna on a sardine and a 2/0 Gamakatsu hook tied to 50-pound Izorline fluorocarbon. He said he used 80-pound Izorline spectra on a BX-2 500 reel and a Super Seeker 6470 H rod.

Doug Griffith of Saugus won second place for his 71-pound tuna, and Josh Addison of Ventura won third place for a bait-caught wahoo that weighed 56.6 pounds.
