Kevin Osborne docked Intrepid at Pt. Loma Sportfishing August 20 after a five-day trip with 26 anglers and chartermasters Bryan Porter and Denny Kaneoka. Skipper Osborne said they fished at Guadalupe Island and offshore.

Conner Morrison of Mission Viejo took a fish from Porter and wrestled the 86-pounder in. He'll be in seventh grade this fall at Carden Academy in Mission Viejo, where he hopes to play volleyball.

John Basmadjias of Fullerton won first place for an 86.2-pounder. He told dock reporter Bill Roecker he got it with a sardine on a 3/0 ringed Owner Super Mutu hook and 40-pound Seaguar premier fluorocarbon. He used 60-pound Line One spectra on an Avet MX reel and a Super Seeker 6470 rod. "I got my butt whipped," said John. "He fought for an hour."

Bryan Porter won second place for an 81.4-pound tuna and Greg Dulmage of Encinitas won third place for a 78.4-pound Guadalupe Island yellowfin tuna.
