http://www.fishingvideos.comA dawn arrival August 28 found Frank LoPreste's Royal Polaris at Fisherman's Landing after a five-day Chef's Special trip with Chef Jeff Roberto of San Diego aboard, as well as Bill Shedd of AFTCO, his daughter Christie (She runs the Bluewater Clothing side of the biz) and her hubby, "Rock Cod Rick" Maxa of Fisherman's Landing and Let's Talk Hookup. There were 25 anglers in all, and they scored near-limits of yellowtail at Cedros and the same on tuna in the mid-waters.
"We left 'em biting yesterday," said Bill Shedd to dock reporter Bill Roecker. We got lots of yellowtail at the island, and they were biting everything, including surface jigs." Shedd showed Roecker a new device AFTCO is marketing, that reads the drag pressure with great accuracy, and mounts on the rod.
Ray Tucker, in photo, of Imperial Beach won first place for a 40.5-pound bluefin tuna. He said it bit a sardine on a 4/0 ringed Owner super Mutu hook tied to 25-pound Seaguar fluorocarbon. He used 30-pound Big Game line on a Trinidad 20 reel and a seven-foot Loomis rod.
Jonathan Chow of Clayton showed off a yellowtail of 35.5 pounds, and said it took a mackerel on a dropper loop with 16 ounces of weight.
