The Marina hours are from 6 AM to 7 PM and the park hours are from 6 AM to 8 PM. The lake's last catfish and trout plant was on 10/4/11. This will probably be one of the last catfish plants of the season. With the trout plant we will be gearing up for a fantastic trout season. The water temperature is at 67 degrees so this is great for catfishing, and large and small mouth Bass. When the water temperature drops, the trout will be off the hook! The fish plants are now starting to be off the dock. It is exciting to see a trout plant. Some of our anglers have been reporting catching striped bass. A great catch and release was reported with the striped bass weighing 27 lbs. (Too bad we did not get a shot of this great catch!) The bass fishermen here at Lake Del Valle are also reporting catching their limits of five, so the bass are always biting. A few small trout have been caught, but this is really just the start of our trout season.

Striped Bass:
The bait that has been the most successful here at the lake for striped bass is anchovies, sardines and shad. Some anglers have been using top water poppers and swim baits.

Catfish:
Chicken livers, anchovies, sardines and G & S dip bait have all been used to catch catfish. The G & S dip bait is the best "stink" bait on the market.

Largemouth & Smallmouth Bass:
The best bait to use is rubber worms, swim baits and nightcrawlers. You want to fish for these bass in cattails, downed trees or just where there is structure.

Trout:
As our trout season begins, a variety of Rapalas, Panther Martins and Rooster Tails have been used. These type of lures are great for trolling. If you want to bait fish for trout the use Power Eggs in the following colors: white, chartreuse, rainbow and spring green. A combination of Power Eggs and Power Worms makes for a great catch. Berkeley PowerBait can also attract trout using these colors: white, chartreuse, orange, cheese and yellow. We have just started carrying a variety of mice tails. Last year our anglers were using Berkeley Trout Dip, garlic, corn and roe. We could not keep these baits is stock last year. For live bait, we carry large and mini nightcrawlers, jumbo red worms and wax worms.

There is always great fishing at Lake Del Valle, so be sure to stop by the Marina and get your picture taken for our "Wall of Fame" and to be included in our weekly fishing report. Starting in October through March our motor boats will be a half price on a full day rental every Wednesday. We also offer a 20% senior and military discount on motor boats on weekdays. Come and try your luck, have some fun and remember "Your worst day fishing, is always better than your best day working."
