The Wild Steelhead Festival in Northern California's City of Healdsburg has become so popular, it has grown again this year, and major sponsor Trout Unlimited has increased its involvement. Here's a look at what's in store for the Fifth Annual Healdsburg Wild Steelhead Festival, February 10, 11 and 12, 2012:
Friday, February 10
Festival activities get underway with a dinner at the Villa Chanticleer in Healdsburg. Participants will enjoy a wild salmon dinner and this year's guest speaker, Jim Norton showing his short film "Salmon: Running the Gauntlet". Appetizers begin at 5:30 p.m., with the buffet dinner at 6:30 p.m. There also will be a silent auction, where participants can bid on a new kayak, custom fly fishing rods, fishing trips, fishing accessories, and more.
The cost of the dinner is $40 for adults, and $20 for kids 12 and under. There will be a no host bar in the Lobby.
Saturday, February 11
The festival on Saturday, February 11 is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and features free activities in Healdsburg Plaza. Visitors can enjoy 60 educational exhibits, a free trout pond for young anglers, a fly fishing demonstration pond with tips from the pros, displays of fishing gear and boats, art for kids, cooking demos by local chefs, wine tasting, and a live Steelhead display. There also will be live music by the popular and fun Rose Town Ramblers.
On hand with great information will be Trout Unlimited, Sonoma County Water Agency, Russian Riverkeeper, California Department of Fish and Game, Army Corp of Engineers, Sotoyome RCD, NOAA and more. Food from Dry Creek Kitchen, Spoonbar, Bobby the Greek, Costeaux Bakery,Chicago Style Hot Dogs, many wineries, fishing guides, and lots more.
Sunday, February 12
On Sunday, the family fun moves to Lake Sonoma. There will be many activities at the Warm Springs Visitor Center from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
