http://www.truckeeriveroutfitters.comThe lake is pretty much Ice free except for around the dam area. That area does not get as much sun and therefore takes longer to melt. The roads are in good shape and the fishing has been great. The weather has a lot to do with where the fish are this time of year. Mornings or days when it is calm fish can be seen rising and chasing food on or near the surface. A floating or intermediate line is best when this is happening. Small Bead Head nymphs and local popular patterns like Sheep Creek Specials are a good bet. On days when there is a little more chop on the water a type 2 or a little faster sinking line will help get your flies into deeper water where the fish should be hanging. The North end of the lake is a good place to start. You can either fish out of a floating device or look for some shoreline with access to some deeper water nearby.
