While the skippers are still seeing the billfish they are being very difficult getting a bite from them and the fish counts have diminished over the past week for nearly all of the boats. Even the inshore action has been very slow this past week with only a few Sierra and bonito to report, along with a few jack cravelle in the deeper water, mostly taken on the deep trolling artificials, i.e., Rapala types, in the magnum sizes and a variety of colors. Right now, the crews are trying wide selection of lure ammunition but nothing has performed better than the other this past week.

IZ Climate: Superb weather, partly cloudy days with warm and pleasant evenings, temps from 70 nights to 88 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions: A little windy but the ocean remains calm with cool surface temps that fell to 73 degrees inshore and rising to 77 degrees offshore, outside the 100 fathom curve and out to the 1000 fathom curve, then rising to 79-80 degrees. Considerable off-colored greenish tinted water extending from shore to near 40 miles.

Best Fishing Area: None reported as the fish have scattered about through the area.

Best Lure/Bait: The rigged baits were best for the boats that landed billfish but were few and far between.

Bait Supply: The cooler waters have not hampered the bait supply and there continues to be an excellent supply of boat, live bait and baits for rigging.
