Report Date:

Anglers fishing for salmon on the Sacramento and Feather Rivers have some good news this week, although those who fish the Klamath River system may have to wait a couple of more weeks before the regulations are set. In a meeting Wednesday afternoon, the state Fish and Game Commission approved the proposed 2012 salmon season regulations.

Highlights of the Sacramento River season will include a July 16 thorough December 16 season from the Highway 113 Bridge to the Red Bluff Diversion Dam, and from August 1 to December 16 from the Red Bluff diversion Dam to the Deschutes Bridge. Daily bag limit will be two Chinook salmon.

In the Feather River, the season will run from July 16 to October 15, with a daily bag limit of two Chinook salmon. For the first time in several years, it appears that salmon fishing will be allowed at the infamous "Thermalito Afterbay Outlet", although official confirmation could not be obtained before press time.
