The spring bite rocketed into high gear this past week, as all species made strong showings. Trout fishing was very good from the shore of Harvey's, all the way to Mohawk on all types of baits and lures. Kenny Weber of Santa Barbara had a 17 lb. limit of "tail walkers" from Drakes, and a 30 lb. limit of catfish from an undisclosed location. Trollers also did well just about all over the lake, with crawler/dodger combos at 3 colors of leadcore getting the best results.

The bass fishing was exceptional, and both largies and smallies bit almost anything tossed at them in 1' to 5' of the water column. Some anglers reported up to 30 fish days, and was described as "wide open". Crappie also went on the chew in the narrows and around the island on trolled rapalas and spinners.

As mentioned earlier, the warming water temps brought the kitties into shallow water, and bit fly- lined mackerel readily. Carp were spotted all over the lake, and the long awaited spawn has started, and double digit numbers should be easily obtained with a bow.
