http://www.countyofsb.org/parks/cachuma.sbcBass fishing is still good on top waters early and late. Use medium cranks and plastics during the afternoon. There have been shad spotted up tight to the bank in several areas of the lake, and can be readily dipped.
Catfish are providing steady action in creek channels all over the lake. Cut mackerel and dough baits are the top bait choices. Pickings are slow for trout, but some can be found in the dam area as well as in front of Harvey's trolling dodger/crawler combos and C.D. 5 Rapalas from the surface to six colors of leadcore. Crappie are being caught in Santa Cruz Bay. Small minnow imitations and crappie jigs both are working well. Bow fishing for Carp has been good all over the lake with the best action coming on overcast mornings. Bluegill are biting around structure in the back of shallow coves.

High winds and cooler temperatures slowed the bass bite a bit, although limit style fishing was still on tap. Shallow cranks, as well as a variety of plastics accounted for the bulk of the smallies and largies. Catfish were still being caught in coves with creek channels in 3' to 10' of water on cut mackerel and dough baits. Some nice hold-over rainbows showed up last week and an 8 lb. "tail walker" was weighed in at the marina. ......

Bass fishing is still good on top waters early and late, and fly lined plastics, texas jigs and regular jigs in the mid-day. Fish are scattered to 15' in the water column. Trout action has slowed, although an 8 lb. "tail walker" was weighed in at the Marina on Saturday. The brute was taken incidentally on a Texas rig during a club tournament. Most trout however are up near the dam area. Drifted nightcrawlers, needlefish/dodger combos are getting bit......
