http://www.truckeeriveroutfitters.comFlows have come down on the L.T. in the last few days. They were holding at 299 CFS and now they are down to 128 CFS. We would love them to stay in this area for the rest of the summer but do not count on it. Fly fishing on the L.T. should start to really get good over the next week. Lower flows could spark the PMD hatch and we could even still see some Green Drakes. Hatches on the Little Truckee are usually in the middle of the day, mostly due to the cold water flowing out of Stampede into the Little Truckee.
Dry Dropper set-ups are a good bet right now. With the flows coming down look for fish to re- position back into the main part of the river and some of the larger runs. Higher water over the past month or so had the fish really spread out. It is going to be way more important to take a slower approach and look for fish in lower clear water. They will move out of deeper holes into shallow runs to feed this time of year. Keep some PMD dries in size 16 and 18 ready as well as a few Green Drakes. There has also been a fairly decent Caddis hatch in the evenings but make sure to bring some bug spray.
