http://www.truckeeriveroutfitters.comFlows are holding at 106 CFS. Usually the flows in the summer are much higher due to irrigation. Due to the lower snowpack last winter, the East Walker has remained fishable all summer. It does get pretty warm in the summer around Bridgeport and the surrounding areas and the water in the East Walker can also get warm in the afternoons. The best time to fish the East Walker is in the mornings. Especially the further downstream away from Bridgeport Reservoir you are.
This is hopper season and with the lower flows, dry dropper set-ups can be fished very effectively. Big ugly dry flies with a size 16-20 dropper like a Caddis or a PMD should work well, especially on windy days. There have been some bugs hatching in the mornings on the California side as well. Carry a thermometer with you and quit fishing when the water gets above 70 degrees. We have had some cooler weather over the past few days and we have been able to fish all day.
