We received an excellent fishing report from Captain Temo Verboonen, our reporter for the Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo area, that reflected a terrific bite on sailfish and many smaller dorado. The best part was the very close proximity to the Bay and inside the 7-mile mark. Temo reported superb blue water throughout the area and warm, stable water temps that should keep the fish in the Zihuatanejo back yard for awhile. As for the inshore fishing, Temo says it's just perfect for the roosterfish and the trophy roosters, (80-plus pounders) are still biting very well, especially on the Ranger Lures. Lots of big Jack Crevalles in the 20 lb. class, too. Overall, it's first class fishing at the moment and all of the elements are in place to keep it this way for awhile, too.

IZ Climate: Partly cloudy days with temps from 70 nights to 91 daytime highs. A little humid with light & variable westerly surface breezes at 5-10 mph.

Sea Conditions: As good as it gets! Nearly flat calm conditions with water temps at 88-90 degrees and a perfect blue clarity throughout the area.

Best Fishing Area: Currently no farther offshore than 7 miles for the billfish and dorado.

Best Lure/Bait: The billfish are eager for the rigged trolling baits. The inshore fishing has been good on live bait and Ranger Lures.

Live Bait Supply: An excellent supply of live bait and no problem with the fresh caught baits for rigging.
