https://www.thesandiego.comIt's almost as if the fish got the same letter from Mexican immigration as we did concerning the closure of the Mexican coast. In the past five days we have been averaging 30-75 mixed fish on our 3/4 day offshore trips. It's all about finding the right kelp right now. Many of our trips lately have gone from 0 fish on the boat to 50 fish on the boat in fifteen minutes. Having success on these offshore trips is all about capitalizing on opportunity. To give yourself the best shot at success all you really need to bring is a 25 lb. bait rod. If you own a number of rods and reels it never hurts to bring a 20 and a 30 lb. rod as well. In the event that we run into some bigger fish on one of these trips a 50 lb. bait rod will do the trick. The general rule of thumb offshore is ; use the heaviest line they will bite. If you have ever wanted to catch a truly exotic fish and also sleep in your own bed, this is the time ! Call Seaforth for reservations at 619-224-3383.
