http://www.fishingvideos.comAndy Cates tied Red Rooster III to the dock at H&M Landing July 8 after Coach Cliff Clark's annual eight-day trip.
"We had a slow pick yesterday at the Rocks," he wrote July 6. "Similar to what it has been, after the explosive action on yellows the day before. Everyone seemed to be casual with just a chance and the experience of tuna fishing. Fish up to 70 pounds were caught but mostly 35 to 50-pounders, on fly line and kite. The sharks took a few in the evening but most of the day not a problem. Things perked up again in the evening so we stayed until dark with 28 tuna and 10 yellows for the day."
Terrie Summers of San Antonio, TX won first place for a 93-pound yellowfin she caught on the boat's kite rig with a sardine bait.
Mike Butler of Sonoma was second, for an 89-pound yellowfin. He also won a prize for the best yellowtail caught on a jig. His 32-pound yellowtail bit on a white, five-inch MC swim bait, he said. Skipper Cates helped him out by posing with the yellow in the jackpot lineup shot.
Scott McFarland of Walnut won third place for a 73-pound yellowfin tuna.
