Roy Rose backed Royal Polaris into her slip at Fisherman's Landing October 9 after a bountiful ten-day trip with 31 anglers. Fishing was offshore, he said.

"We had good offshore action, with lots of dorado and some good yellowfin along with lots of schoolies. We found yellowtail on kelps." Jim Delbridge of Walnut creek won first place for a 50.5-pound dorado, one of many king-sized flats showing up in this season's catches recently. He told dock reporter Bill Roecker he got it with a sardine on a 4/0 Owner Super Mutu hook tied to 40-pound Maxima line on a TLD 30 reel and a custom Seeker 660 rod.

Bruce Sonoda of Brea won second place for a 42-pound dorado. Mark Sodamitsu of San Gabriel won third place for a 38-pound dorado. Posing with Duane Gray of Laguna Beach (who had a brace of nice dodos), and skipper Rose, Fred Adams of Tehachapi showed off a 34.8-pound yellowfin tuna and remarked, "This is the 32nd year I've been on this trip." That may not be a record, but it's remarkable.
