Once again, the dorado were unquestionably the fish of the week for the anglers and overall, it was pretty easy fish limit style fishing for most of the boats. The dorado being taken closer to the beach were a bit smaller this past week, probably averaging 15 lbs. or so, but the offshore dorado were still in the quality sizes and ranged to more than 50 lbs. The "FISH CABO", reporting in for 6 fishing days reflected 5 stripers released, 5 sailfish released, 24 yellowfin tuna and 43 dorado, with all fish taken on the Pacific side of Cabo San Lucas. The combined fishing report for 50 days fished reflected 14 stripers, (12 released) 8 sailfish released, 27 yellowfin tuna and 348 dorado.

Cabo Climate: Sunny, warm and clear skies, day & night, with temps that ranged from 72 nights to 94 daytime highs.

Sea Conditions: Both sides of the peninsula are excellent with the warmer water on the Sea of Cortez side. Temps ranged from 84-85 on the Pacific side and gradually warmed to 86-87 at Cabo and increased to 88-89 by the Gorda Banks and above the banks to Las Frailles. Good clarity throughout both sides with better water on the Pacific side but still, plenty good on the Sea of Cortez side, too.

Best Fishing Area: Remains on the Pacific side for all fish and it didn't seem to make any difference if you were south of Cabo fishing in the Herradura area or northwest along the peninsula. Fish were being found in all directions.

Best Bait/Lure: Live bait was best for the billfish and as always, worked perfectly for the dorado, too. The yellowfin tuna were primarily school fish and taken on tuna feathers and cedar plugs. The artificials did perform very well for the larger dorado as the boats were moving from area to area and then a live bait dropped back was "deadly" for a 2nd hookup.

Live Bait Supply: Continues to be very good with an excellent supply of caballitos and of course, the frozen ballyhoo are now always available, too.
