Mike Keating's Spirit of Adventure returned to H&M Landing November 4 after an 11-day Avet trip with 18 anglers and Avet rep Ben Frazier aboard. Also fishing were a pair of Wounded Warriors invited by Keating.

"The lower bank we fished on was picky," said Ben to dock reporter Bill Roecker by telephone. Wahoo fishing was excellent, with the fish eating bait, bombs and jigs. The best one was a 79-pounder caught by Jeff Koep. We had gorgeous weather and it was flat calm on the way in." Greg Rogers of San Diego won first place for a 180-pound tuna that took a sardine. Frazier didn't know about his gear except he used an Avet HXW Raptor reel with a 100-pound wind-on leader.

Bob Griedman of San Bernadino won second place for a 169-pounder, and Frazier got third place for a 160-pound tuna that took a sardine on 100-pound Maxima and an HXW reel.
