http://www.cortezcharters.comCaptain Temo Verboonen was notably excited with his fishing report this week that not only reflected excellent fishing results but a notable increase in anglers at the dock, a double plus for the week. Temo said it was a very busy week at the dock and the catches, both sailfish and dorado, were just 4 miles outside the Bay and moving around with the schools of bonito and porpoise. The inshore fishing equaled the offshore action as the roosterfish bite was in high gear for the larger fish. and with very good catches on the bigger jack crevalle. It's just been a superb week of fishing action for the inshore and the offshore anglers. Highlighting the week was the Navy's intervention with the long liners and pressing hard on them to abandon the practice. In the past few weeks we have already started to see the results with the increased sportfishing action.
IZ Climate: Near picture perfect weather with warm days and pleasant evenings that ranged from 72 nights to 91 daytime highs and some scattered cloud cover over the area.
Sea Conditions: Near perfect! Sea temps remain at a very stable 84-85 degrees with deep blue water just a few miles outside the bay and lots of sea-life all over.
Best Fishing Area: Starts with excellent fishing at the 4 mile mark and outbound from there.
Best Bait/Lure: Live bait is hot for the roosterfish and jacks but rigged baits are really producing good catches on the sailfish and dorado.
Bait Supply: Continues to be excellent. Plenty of live bait for those that wish to have it and plenty of fresh caught baits for rigging.
