http://www.fishingvideos.comDave Choate chartermastered the Seeker six-day trip aboard the Excel that returned July 11 with a great catch of big Cedros Island yellowtail, two white seabass and five halibut.
At Fisherman's Landing, skipper Justin Fleck weighed the catch made by his 31 anglers.
"Right now, the albacore are hit or miss," he noted. "Mostly, we missed. We had a super yellowtail bite from seven to eleven one night, though."
Gary Hawes of Torrance won first place for a 41-pound yellowtail, a ten minute fish that took his sardine on a 2/0 Mustad 91450 hook. He said he fished with 50-pound Soft Steel Ultra line on an Avet LX 6-3 reel and a Seeker Black Steel 6460 H rod.
Jenna Sliger is a 21-year-old student at ASU in Tempe, AZ. She fished with her boyfriend and took a remarkable 39-pound white seabass, good for second place, on a sardine and the dropper loop.
Chartermaster Choate won third place, for a 35.4-pound yellowtail.
