John Klein docked his Qualifier 105 July 11 after guiding 30 anglers on a five-day trip. Klein's son Zachary was aboard for his 10th birthday present, along with his pal Ben Younes, also 10. The boys enjoyed themselves, said Klein, and got some nice yellows.

Chartermaster Dave Hoag's daughter Susan won first place for a 40-pound yellowtail. She said she used a sardine on a 5/0 Mustad hook to take her prize, along with 40-pound Big Game line, an Avet JX reel and a Calstar 665 H rod.

Lowell Dickson of Irvine won second place for a 37-pound yellow, and Patric Maher of San Diego took third place, for a 35-pound yellowtail.
