http://www.fishingvideos.comJustin Fleck took his 26 Excel anglers on a five-day trip south to the Little Triangle, the Cedros/Benitos/Punta Eugenia area, where they got limits of yellowtail on bait and iron.
"They were up on the beach, pushing bait," said skipper Justin. "They're still sitting there; we left ???em biting after we got what we needed. It was rough offshore, and a lot nicer closer in."
On June 12, Justin wrote, "We had solid action on good sized yellows at the islands. The fish were mostly 18-25 pounds and we caught them on just about everything. Bait, yo-yo's, surface irons, and Fishtraps. Everybody had so much fun today, we are going to give it one more day."
Auggie Roberts of Santa Monica won first place for a 31.2-pound yellowtail. He said he tagged it with a Salas 7X green and white surface jig, 30-pound Izorline, and Avet LX reel and a Calstar 90 J rod, after a ten-minute tussle.
"It was a great trip," said Roberts. "Justin found the fish for us and for the fleet. We were the top dogs."
Vic Salerno of Menifee won second place for a 29.7-pound yellow, and Paul Briscowe of Tustin won third place for a 29.1-pound yellowtail.
Michael Hudspeth of Poway, 11 years old, was proud of his catch. "I got 14 yellowtail," he allowed.
