This was posted by the long range boat Intrepid February 19: "The Intrepid fishing family lost one of its members last week when Detective Jeremiah MacKay of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department was shot and killed by Christopher Dorner, the ex LAPD officer, in Big Bear. Jeremiah was part of the SBS Group that has fished on the Intrepid the last five years. Jeremiah was one of the original members of the SBS Group when they first chartered Intrepid in 2009. Because of scheduling conflicts and other issues he never made it back onto the Intrepid after the initial trip, but told Charter Master Gerry Tesselaar just a month ago that he would someday re-join the group for a fun-filled fishing trip. He will be sorely missed by all that knew him. He leaves behind a wife and two small children, a 7-year old daughter and a 4-month-old baby boy. Jeremiah had a wonderful sense of humor. Please keep his family in your hearts while they grieve through this terrible tragedy. His funeral is planned for this Thursday, Feb. 21st. Anyone that would like to help the MacKay family please contact the San Bernardino Sheriff's Department at (909) 387-3400.
