Yesterday, April 17, the 3/4 day boat Mission Bellle from Pt. Loma Sportfishing reported a catch of 49 yellowtail, for ten anglers. Ron Cerruti of the landing's tackle store said, "I did all right, but I learned a lot. I got mine on the flyline. About half of 'em came that way and half on surface jigs like Salas 7X in green mint or green swirl. The bite was best about ten o'clock, and again in the late afternoon. We got most fish on the southeast side of South Island."

H&M Landing reported 34 yellowtail for 16 anglers aboard the Malihini. All about 20 pounds, surface iron in the morning was best. "It was fun," said Dan Wade, who was on the boat. "The best jigs looked like scram and blue swirl and plain white. There's plenty of fish around, up on the surface, and some sonar. As the day went on, bait worked better, on the flyline."

The Seaforth boat San Diego had a catch of 44 yellowtail, said spokesperson Les, and the boat reported the size of the fish at 18 to 30 pounds. There were 17 anglers aboard.
