http://www.silverlakeresort.netWith "Opening Day" temperatures in the 70's fisherman from all over were nothing but smiles this past weekend. Thanks to some timely stocking at the beginning of this season by The Eastern Sierra Fishing Coalition, DFG and hold overs from last season, most anglers had their limits by 7 am with many anglers having some 2 to 3 pound rainbows to brag about to their friends and neighbors.
The most amazing catch of the weekend went to Jacob Aguayo of Chino who brought in a whopping stringer of 19 pounds for his five fish. Jacob caught a 2 pound 6 ounce, a 2 pound 7 ounce, a 2 pound five ounce and two rainbows each weighing 5 pounds 6 ounces!!!!! Jacob not only caught the biggest fish of the entire June Lake Loop with his twin 5 pound 6 ounce, he also had the biggest stringer for the Loop and the Biggest fish caught in Silver Lake. Needless to say Jacob was this years "Monster Trout" winner and took home some great prizes. Jacob caught all his fish by 9 am Saturday morning and all were caught using a Gold/Red Thomas Buoyant. Nice Job Jacob!!!!
While Jacob brought home the biggest fish of the weekend, there were plenty of other anglers who had some great catches as well. Silver Lake hauled in over 25 rainbows between 2 and 5 pounds over the week. John Dalcin of Burbank brought in a 5 pound 3 ounce Rainbow from Silver Lake using a Panther Martin, young Damien Gomez, age 6 hauled in a beautiful 4 pound 5 ounce Rainbow using Rainbow Garlic Power Bait. Team Brown Eye of Norwalk caught some very nice Rainbows as well, some weighing in at 1 pound 5 ounces, 1 pound 13 ounces, 2 pound 2 ounces, 2 pound 12 ounces and a 5 pound 3 ouncer, just to name a few. Paul Cruz of Costa Mesa also caught a great 4 pound 15 ounce Rainbow on Garlic Power Bait.
Rush Creek also did very well this past weekend with a number of great looking streamline fish coming in on Saturday. Long time local, George Bell, hauling in a gorgeous 2 pound 1 ounce Brown on worms. Kelly White also caught some nice ones from Rush weighing in at 1 pound 5 ounces and 1 pound 9 ounces. Oscar Silva of New Mexico brought in a 2 pound 2 ounce Rainbow from the creek as well.
I could go on and on with how well fishing was over the Opener at Silver Lake, but the only way to really see it is to come on up and catch some whoppers for yourself. Silver Lake Resort is open daily from 7am to 7pm daily and our great Café is open daily from 7am to 2pm so come on over for some great food and even better fishing. Come on up and rent a boat for the best prices you will find in the entire Eastern Sierras at $45 for a full day (7am to 7pm) and $35 for a half day boat &am to 1 pm or 1pm to 7am)
Look for more great fish to be stocked into Silver Lake over the next few weeks with DFG stocking weekly and some more Alpers coming our way as well.
Happy Fishing and We Will See You at Silver Lake!!!
