http://www.shogunsportfishing.comON THE WAY HOME!!! REPORTS FROM 04/22-04/30!!!! Hello Everyone, We are back online! Unfortunately with as far south as we were fishing our satellite signal has been too weak to send any reports so here's a day by day update for what we have been up to. 4/24 We woke up to a couple of nice cows this morning. Lucky anglers Ken White and Jack Thrush boated a couple of monsters, with Ken's fish measuring in around 269 lbs and Jack's fish measuring in around 245lbs. Both fish were caught on salami's. The rest of the day we scratched together a decent catch of mixed grade tuna hitting various bird schools for fish anywhere from 60lbs up to 190 lbs. Late in the afternoon we got on a loose school of bigger fish and we were able to boat a few more tuna in the 175-190lb class. The sharks were a bit of a problem again today, but with the good signal on the larger grade tuna we opted to stick around another day and try to make some more bait before heading to Hurricane Bank. 4/25 With a full moon burning bright, making bait was extremely difficult. We did manage to scratch up a few pieces but not what we were hoping for. Conditions changed quite a bit from the day before, the current shifted and all of the life moved around to the other side of the island. We were able to pick up a few more nice wahoo, but we did not see the same signal of the larger grade tuna. With the sharks only seeming to get worse we opted to make the move out to Hurricane. 4/26 We arrived at the bank just after 8 am and after a couple of short wahoo stops we settled in on the anchor and put the kites out. With all of the reports from the previous days fishing at hurricane being night time fishing we didn't expect too much int the way of daytime fishing. But we were able to scratch 11 nice tuna before dark in the 130-180lb class. Once the sun went down, our high expectations fell short with only 2 smaller tuna for our efforts, but we were able to catch a bit of bait, tanking up on flying fish and puffers. 4/27 We scratched together another decent day, with almost all of our fish coming on the kite. Squid and flying fish were our two most productive baits. Most of the fish today were in the same 130-180lb class with a few in the 60-90lb class. Lucky angler Bob Peugh had the largest catch with a beautiful Yellowfin measuring in just over 200 lbs. We were also able to pick away at the wahoo all day as well. Most were smaller grade fish, but tasty nonetheless. We settled in and hoped for another shot at a night bite, but to no avail. Fortunately Flying fish came easy this night and we very quickly tanked up on all we needed for the next day's fishing. 4/28 Fishing improved a bit from the day before, but again most of our fish came on the kite. We had a larger percentage of the bigger grade today, with more of our catch being in the 165-190 lb class. Ted Demond scored big fish honors with a cow measuring in right at 200lb. Wahoo action was right about the same, picking away one at a time throughout the day. 4/29 We got off to a nice early start this morning hooking a couple of monsters about 4 am. Unfortunately we had one hook pull out and another break free just 30 ft below the boat. But fishing did improve throughout the day and we had our best day of the trip on the larger grade fish. We didnt wind up with any cows, but we did have several in the 175lb-185 lb class. About 6 pm we pulled anchor and got underway, with Alijos rocks being our final fishing destination. 4/30 Well our trip is almost a wrap, with a nice catch in the hole and our bow pointed north we have just one more stop at Alijos where we hope to top off our catch with a few nice yellows. Most of us today spent the day breaking down tackle while the crew cleaned the boat up. Weather has been gorgeous since departing Hurricane Bank and we hope it will hold out for the rest our ride home. Shogun Crew
