Skipper Derek Waldman docked Red Rooster III July 6 after the eight-day Mahoney & McVey trip to offshore waters and the Ridge. Near-limits of yellowtail resulted, along with a mixed catch of yellowfin, wahoo, bluefin tuna and dorado.

First place went to Mike Mahoney of Danville for a 54.2-pound wahoo.
Randy Ladd of Willows won second place for a 52.6-pound skinny.
Regular Rooster rider Ben Kita of LA won third place for a 50.6-pound wahoo.
Charles Case of La Palma got the coveted trolling jacket for his 48-pound wahoo.

On July 7, skipper Andy Cates reported: "We got to the party a little late today. We did manage a couple of decent drifts with fish up to around 60 pounds. We missed the best fishing in the morning so we are going to give it tomorrow and see how it goes. We got 57 Bluefin for the afternoon and are looking forward for tomorrow."
