Hi everyone,

I took this trip off to catch up on a few things shore side and keep in touch with those following the bite offshore. The past few days on the water have heated up as the bite has once again shifted to a different zone.

Several days last week found much of the action centered around the "pens". That has all changed with several areas developing offshore. This is good news, as it helps spread the fleet out, decreasing the pressure on the fish and enhancing the bite.

We returned from a 1.5 Day charter yesterday and after a relatively slow day on the water, swept onto a big school of Bluefin at around 6pm. It was all over but the shouting and when the last of the blood was rinsed from the deck more than 70 Bluefin were dropped into the hold. It was all hands on deck for the high action that ensued during the hour long drift.

On their last Ultra Limited Load trip on the Coral Sea, we returned with just a couple handfuls of Bluefin mixed with over 120 Yellowtail. The weather was up a bit and challenged the fleet as they combed the offshore banks but through it all they fished hard and put together a nice score.

The prospects look good for the coming 2 months as water temps remain consistent and there appears to be new fish moving in. This looks like a great setup for the remainder of August, September and my favorite month, October.

The phone has been ringing and trips are filling. Many of you are looking to get onboard right now and head offshore while the bite is on and are frustrated with the lack of availability.

Our most popular trips these past weeks have been the Ultra Limited Load Trips offered onboard the Coral Sea. These trips sell quickly as we only take 17 anglers and are the perfect duration given the area we have been fishing. You will have ample time to make it to the grounds to get in on the gray bite and be there long after the day boats head for home and take advantage of a sundowner. The next trip with availability departs August 19 with just a few spaces remaining. Trips following this departure throughout August and September have limited availability and will book in advance as the offshore action continues.

You can reserve your ticket online @ CoralSeaSportfishing.com or by calling our office direct @ 619-997-9993 and speak with Randy. We will be happy to handle all the details of your trip and get you prepared for your time on the water.

Currently, all Ranger 85 trips are sold out through mid-September. But don't despair. We have availability on trips beginning September 21 through October 20. As I mentioned before this looks like it will be a fall to remember and that means September and October will be on fire. The Ranger 85 has a great schedule with trips ranging from 1.5 to 3.5 days with availability to get you in on the action. To view our complete schedule simply go to Ranger 85 and reserve today.

This truly is the best Bluefin season we have seen in decades. Now is your opportunity to get out on the water and test your limits with this incredible bite. Last week's whopper was an 89 lb Bluefin landed by Matt Kelly of St. Helena, CA!

Well, that's all for now. We look forward to fishing with you this season.
