http://www.fishingvideos.comJeff DeBuys docked Independence at Point Loma Sportfishing September 7 after a good eight-day trip with the Coastside Fishing Club and chartermaster Jeremy Kangas. There were 30 anglers, who had near-limits of yellowfin, bluefin tuna and yellowtail. They also caught 51 dorado and three grouper.
"It really looks right," said DeBuys to Bill Roecker. It's a classic fall setup, with yellowfin down there and up here. And we're not done with the bluefin tuna yet. We got our trophy yellowtail at Alijos Rocks, but there's no tuna there. We did find eight wahoo."
John Hom won first place for a 42-pound yellowtail. He said he bagged it with a sardine on a 5/0 Mustad J hook on an 80-pound dropper loop.
Jonny Allos of San Diego won second place for a 37.8-pound yellowtail.
The grouper was a 60-pounder, and came into the lineup late, so the angler's name was missed.
