Fishing this week was on the fair side with most anglers getting some fish. The weather was also on the fair side with sun, clouds, rain, hail, thunder-bumpers and lightning ??- the only thing we didn`t get was snow and hilacious winds. The lake continues to rise just a tad everyday for which we are thankful, very thankful.

Fishing the Dingleberry, Little George and George Inlets with worms or wooly buggers were working the best. The trollers using leadcore line were going down about 5 to 6 colors and using red and gold Thomas Buoyant or the red-dot frog pattern. Drifting worm or PowerBait around the rock piles or over the shore between the two natural lakes (which you can see when the lake is down). Shore fishing with PowerBait or inflated worms seemed to be the ticket.

Chuck Mitchell of San Diego won the Big Fish Bragging Rights for the week snagging a 6 ?? ??pound whopper on a wooly bugger beating Kevin Schmissrauter of Tustin for the bragging rights by a ?? pound. Kevin caught his lunker on a nice juicy NightCrawler. Pete Blaszcak of Ramona landed a nice 3 ?? pounder also on a wooly bugger.

The Department of Fish and Game stocked the lake Monday with pan-size fish and a few fish tipping the scales at 2-pounds. If you happen to catch a fish with a tag in the gill, it`s just to let you know the DFG are stocking with some larger fish.We ask that you all be real careful this year and remember Smokey`s Motto - "Only YOU can prevent Forest Fires!"

We`ve had a bit of thunder=bumpers with rain showers (turning a bit heavy at times) every afternnon for about a week. Cooled things down a bit and we`ll take every drop of water we can get this year. The highs were in the high 70s with the lows in the high 40s to low 50s.

Nimrod had a bit of a rough week ??- he was neutered on Thursday, on Saturday he fell out of the Poplar on the west side of the building and dropped about 14 feet to the concrete walkway, on Sunday, he was helping Rick and Jarodd on the docks cleaning out boats, walking the gunnels on the green boats and the pontoons under the pontoon boat and slipped off into the lake. He swam back to the docks where Rick plucked him out of the lake. I think he used a couple of lives last week.

We had a black lab that got out of the owner`s truck on Thursday, May 17th. It was picked up by a father and son who were in a gray - gold - taupe Chevy Z71 extended cab. Please give us a call if you happened to have picked up the dog. The owner extended his trip, stopped by the lake 3 mornings hoping the people who picked up his dog had come back to see if anyone had lost a dog.

Our summer hours are 7:00am to 7:00pm. The cafe will be serving Breakfast from 7:00am to 11:00am and Lunch from 11:00am to 4:00pm everyday at least through Labor Day.

Remember your polarizers, sunscreen, bug juice and PONCHO along with a few layers of clothes - just in case.
