Selling an inherited Polar Bear rug in California

Question: I've inherited a white polar bear rug that has been in the family for 30 to 40 years. I have no papers or receipts for it. Can I still sell it?

Answer: No. Fish and Game Code Section 4758 prohibits the sale of any bear parts, even if the bear is not native to California. Violations are prosecuted as felonies.
