Trout fishing was good last week as almost all boaters seemed to get into some quality fish. Trolling the North shore using Rapalas, Kastmasters, and Yo-Zuri pins minnows was the ticket to success. Another good area was the rock walls between Cachuma Bay, and Santa Cruz Bay. Those fishing from shore were connecting on E point and the area to the right of the launch ramp. Inflated crawlers and powerbait were reportedly the top baits. The bass bite showed some signs of life, with a handful of fish taken on swimbaits and jigs. There were also a few incidental catches of smallmouth by those trolling for trout. There has been carp spotted on the surface in the late morning / early afternoon hours which should make for some good bow fishing opportunities.

Hot spots have been the mouth of Cachuma Bay, JOhnson's Bay, and the rock walls between Bob cat and Santa Cruz point. Once again Rapalas, Kastmasters, and Yozuri pins......

This Thursday, January 9th, we will be receiving another 4000lbs. of quality Calaveras Trout Farms rainbows. This will cerntainly put the bite back into high gear, which slowed just a bit last week. Flat lining lures such as Rapala's and Yo-Zuri's, as well as Kastmasters, Super Dupers, and Krocodiles all worked well the past week. The best areas were the mouth of Johnson's Bay, the dam, and between Bobcat and Santa Cruz point. Shore anglers had action to the right......
