Bear Lake Fish Report

Utah Division of Wildlife

Report Date:

http://wildlife.utah.gov

The ice on the lake is interspersed with open water. Anglers have been ice fishing in the southwest corner of the lake, but ice thickness varies across the lake. In some areas, ice is five to six inches thick, while others are only one inch thick. There is ice shelved up around most of the shoreline, and most of the open water is in the lake's southeast corner. The 'rockpile' is completely frozen, but the ice is still very thin. Use extreme caution when venturing out on the ice.

The Bonneville cisco run is over. Remember, cutthroat trout at Bear Lake may only be kept if they have a healed fin clip (usually the adipose fin). Consider releasing large lake trout to help maintain the fishery.
