Crappie fishing broke wide open this past week, and several anglers reported full 25 fish limits on slabs to 2.5 lbs. Trolling CD Rapalas in the narrows was the hot ticket, although mini jigs tipped with a crappie nibble or a mealworm was working in Santa Cruz Bay as well. Trout fishing still on the slow side, most trollers opted for the panfish. People fishing off of E point managed to put some nice 'bows on the stringer using powerbait or inflated worms. The bass bite is slowly improving as both large and smallmouth begin to move up to secondary points. Cranks, jigs, texas rigs, and senkos all reportedly took fish to 5 lbs. Carp are up all over the lake in the morning hours, though the best locations were the narrows and Cachuma Bay. Only a few catfish were taken, most incidentally while fishing for trout.

Bass fishing still a bit slow, and with only a handful of people targeting them last week reports were......

Report Date:

It was a good week of trout fishing led by a 9 lb. hold-over tailwalker landed by Kenny Weber of Santa Barbara. The big fish hit a flat lined silver and black C.D. 5 Rapala in an undisclosed location. Many other fishermen had good results trolling similar baits near the mouth of Johnson's and from Cachuma point to Santa Cruz point. Shore anglers connected on the point next to the marina, as well as E point. Nightcrawlers under a bobber......
