The water temp has been coming up, which has spurred another crappie bite in Santa Cruz Bay, and around the cistern island. Trolling Rapalas in the #3 size to locate the schools, then using mini jigs tipped with crappie nibbles has been the hot ticket. Trout action has been fair for those working the north shore with flicker shads and kastmasters. This Thursday, the 20th of March, we will be receiving 4000lbs. of quality 'bows from the Calaveras Trout Farm. This will be the first of 3 slated stockings prior to the annual trout derby held this April 12th and 13th. The bass bite still a bit slow, but with a bit more warm weather it should develop. Catfish also beginning to stir and are coming out of the backs of creek channels and coves. Carp have been plentiful in Cachuma Bay in the morning hours, and in the east end of the lake in the late afternoons.
