This was an unexpected treat for the shore anglers in the marina area as fish to 8 lbs. were weighed in. For trollers, the previous plant has acclimated and are being caught all over west end of the lake. Flat lining Rapalas, Kastmasters, and flicker shads has been the key to success. Crappie are still coming in from the east end of the lake, although the bite has tapered off a bit from previous weeks. Drifting mini jigs tipped with a 'crawler or crappie nibble, as well as trolled CD 3 Rapalas, and spinners has accounted for slabs to 2lbs. Catfish have begun to show in the backs of shallow cuts and coves all over the lake. Cut mackerel has been the bait of choice for the kitties. Bass fishing has been slowly improving, but has yet to go off. Bowfishing for carp has been excellent throughout the day, with the average fish over 10 lbs. Cachuma, and Johnsons Bay in the morning hours and the east end in the afternoon.

Last Thursday we received a 4000lb. stocking of Calaveras Trout Farm rainbows. Shore anglers reported limit style action on nighthcrawlers, powerbait, kastmasters, and various spinners, with at least 2 fish besting the 7lb. mark. Trolling picked up after a few days as the trout began to acclimate. Flat lining Rapalas, and needlefish got it done for the boaters. There are two more plants slated this season, one on Wednesday April 2nd, and Thursday April 10th, prior to the annual trout......

The water temp has been coming up, which has spurred another crappie bite in Santa Cruz Bay, and around the cistern island. Trolling Rapalas in the #3 size to locate the schools, then using mini jigs tipped with crappie nibbles has been the hot ticket. Trout action has been fair for those working the north shore with flicker shads and kastmasters. This Thursday, the 20th of March, we will be receiving 4000lbs. of quality 'bows from the Calaveras Trout Farm.......
