http://www.sportfishingreport.comThe Mirage with Captain Tucker McCombs and Okuma recently teamed up for a sponsored overnight trip targeting outer island rockfish and lingcod. Dave Choate from Okuma was abroad with several new Okuma rods and reels to test out and a new Cortez reel for the biggest fish brought aboard during the trip. We departed CISCOS Landing in Oxnard around 10 pm for the trip across the channel to Santa Rosa island where we would spend the next day fishing. The weather cooperated nad we arose to a beautiful sunset and ready to ake the first drift of the day. Current wasn't too strong so getting to the bottom wasn't a problem for the bait anglers and the jig anglers could hold the bottom long enough to get bit. The fishing was outstanding with huge chucks, reds and assorted rockfish hitting the decks at a steady pace. The lingcod were hungry as well, inhaling jigs bounced and fluttered around the bottom as well as hitting the cut and live bait. We had no problem filling our limits with both full sacks of quality rockfish as well as full limits of lingcod for the boat. A nice 15 lb lingcod was the big fish of the trip taking jackpot honors and a new Okuma Cortez reel. The Mirage has open party trips with space available for fishing on 4/14, 4/15, 4/17, 4/20, 4/21 and 4/22, leaving hte night before at 10 pm. Book online on at www.miragesportfishing.com or call 1-805-983-0975 or CISCOS at 1-805-382-1612 to book you're spot.
