Last weekend's wet and cold weather kept most anglers off the water, but Kathy Jo Martinez reported good fishing in the dam cove where she caught six trout in under an hour using bait. On May 5, Tom Ogden and Bill Jewkes fly fished the southwest side from kickboats. They caught one tiger trout, seven rainbow trout, four chubs and 27 cutthroat trout. All of the fish were under 14 inches, and most were between 12 to 13 inches. They fished in water that was less than 10 feet deep and used sinking line and a size 8 blood leech or bead head brown sparkle leech. Some of the fish were caught using size 4 crystal buggers.

The spring gillnetting survey, which happened on May 9, turned up several six pound cutthroat trout -- but no monster tiger trout this time. State Park Manager Jonathan Hunt reports that gangways have been placed on the docks, so boaters can expect easy launching for the rest of the summer. This week, 148,000 7-inch cutthroat trout were stocked in the reservoir.
