http://www.venturasportfishing.comTODAY'S FISH COUNT: 3 boats and 70 anglers caught.. 48 White Seabass, 1 Leopard Shark, 95 Rockfish, 2 Rock Sole and 11 Lingcod.
Excellent day of WSB fishing for our boats. The local islands had the best of it today with Pacific Eagle taking top boat marks. Mike Mings and his boat headed out at 4AM this morning with enough bait to get started, catching 7 seabass right away. After the bite slowed they moved to the squid grounds replenishing there bait stocks and returned to the seabass spot. Right away, rods started going off.. landing 100% of the fish hooked.. No casualties. Captain of the Island Spirit was Greg Ewart, and after his late day heroics yesterday he looked to continue the trend today. In true "spirit" form, they brought it on late ending up only 4 fish shy of boat limits of seabass. At the outer islands, Pacific Dawn was coming of 3 straight days of limits early for its anglers. Today the bite slowed and captain Dustin worked his butt off to put fish on the boat.
Thursday is a new day with high hopes for all.. stay tuned for another report tomorrow evening, hopefully with even better results!
Awesome fishing to start the week. As predicted the white seabass turned back on at the islands. Fortunatly the fish are spread out, giving everyone a chance at a prized channel islands gamefish!
We are making squid on the water to use for bait, so bring squid catchers and a medium rod and reel setup with 30lb line, 5/0 hooks and 6oz to 16oz sinkers. All fish so far have been taken on the dropper loop, with the exception of a hand full on white jigs.
We have trips going out every day looking for white seabass and the other gamefish mixed in with them ie yellowtail, barracuda and halibut. Be sure to call and reserve before you come down.
