Fred East of Palm Desert won first place for a 111.6-pound tuna. He said he got it with a sardine on a 4/0 Super Mutu ringed hook and 40-pound Big Game line. He used an Avet LX reel and a Calstar 765 L rod.
Brad Boring of Sacrament was second, for an 81-pounder, and Julie Aldridge of Anaheim Hills was third, for a 74.8-pound yellowfin tuna.
