Mike Lackey docked his Vagabond September 9 after a five-day trip with 25 passengers to Guadalupe Island. The Seeker-Cofe trip spent two and a half-days fishing there and did weel on good quality yellowfin tuna, mixed with occasional yellowtail.

Ted Carlson of Kent, OR didn't enter the jackpot, but got the biggest tuna, a 114-pounder, after an hour-long fight on one of the boat's rigs: a sardine on an Eagle Claw 2/0 hook, Soft Steel 40-pound line, an Accurate 665 reel and a Seeker 670 H rod.

Frank Goeyuaer of San Jacinto won first place for a 104-pound tuna. He said he bagged that one with a sardine under a balloon, on a 7/0 Eagle Claw hook, 60-pound Soft Steel line on a TLD 30 reel and a Seeker 660 rod.

Chartermaster and reel builder Larry Cofe was second for a 103-pounder. He said he caught it wearing his crocs, after it was suckered by a sardine on a 4/0 Mustad 91450 hook on 30-pound Soft Steel. He fished with an Accurate 870 reel and a Seeker 6470 Black Steel rod.

Don Shafe of Las Vegas was third, for a 95.4-pound tuna. Ed Chesney of San Diego got a 39-pound wahoo on a sardine and the balloon.

Sean Brownell of Manhattan Beach tied with Dan Maxfield of Madera for most released fish honors. Both men cut loose eight fish.
