Treatment of Lake Davis Reservoir Begins Tuesday

What: A media briefing to highlight the beginning of the treatment of the Lake Davis Reservoir.

Where/When: Briefing will occur at the Grizzly Valley Dam on Lake Davis at 9:30 a.m. An update of the treatment thus far will be given. Resources Agency Secretary Mike Chrisman, as well as DFG Acting Director John McCamman and other DFG, and state and local officials, will be available. There will be several opportunities to view the lake treatment at a variety of locations. Allow time to obtain a press badge and project information packet at the checkpoint, which you can get with a valid media credential. To get to Grizzly Valley Dam from the east, take Grizzly Road off Highway 70 east of Portola and then turn left at the "Services" sign, From the west, in the City of Portola, turn left off Highway 70 onto West Street, which will take you straight to the dam. A second briefing to wrap up the first day of activity is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Grizzly Valley Dam.

Why: DFG treated 137 miles of streams and tributaries of the lake the week of Sept. 10, and spent this week monitoring and checking on the effectiveness of the first treatment. Tuesday will begin the 2-day treatment of the entire reservoir, as well as a second week-long treatment of the streams and tributaries. A total of 16,000 gallons of the rotenone formulation will be utilized during the project.
