Trout fishing is very good for rainbows 12 to 18 inches. PMD nymphs are working. Little yellow stone nymphs also will work. There are still a few caddis coming off. Flow is 8,000 cfs. Guide Dave Jacobs has been getting double digit hookous with light spinning tackle. He has been drifting small glo bugs in various egg color patterns for 20 to 35 wild rainbow trout one to three pounds with the occasional big trout of four and five pounds mixed in. Shad fishing downriver is starting to improve with double digit hook ups on shad one to three pounds with the occasional large females in the four pound class. Side casting small lead head jigs with curly tailed grubs in the one inch size in the afternoons. Average is ten or so on a bad day and twenty or more as the bite picks up. Better fishing for shad will take place in June and trout/shad combos will continue. Dave Jacobs 800.355.3113; The Fly Shop (530) 222-3555
