http://norcal.fishreports.comDick Nichols of Dick's Fishing charters said regardless of the bright moon over this mountain lake, his clients continued to limit out on kokanee all week. Not as good as multiple 20 fish per trip last week, but still good fishing.
He has had to move his search to more areas than last week and has found plenty of fish in two separate spots that have the best results at different times in the morning. The island is doing well on the early bite and Eagle Point in mid-morning. Nichols says the bite is at 6 am to 8 am around the island and then returns about 9:30 am at Eagle Point. Fishing at 60 feet deep with the down riggers using orange Apex lures tipped with corn behind Captain Jack's CJ Dodgers has been the hot set up for weeks for Nichols. The side poles at 20 feet deep have started hitting again after a slow down the past two weeks. Trout Busters tipped with corn and crawler behind weighted mountain Flashers is his best tool at the higher depth. Nichols warns that not all trollers are connecting on kokanee and suggests that if they are not finding the fish to move and change depths. Another trout plant is scheduled for this week by D F&W.
Bank fishermen are doing pretty good on DF&W's fresh plant of catchable trout. The dam, roads 1 and 2 and Dorabella Cove have provided most bank anglers with the best success. Power Bait or crawlers are doing well.
